DSS arrests Obanikoro’s wife over alleged N4.745b arms fraud

Yesterday, DSS security agents arrested Hajiya Morufat Obanikoro, the wife of former Minister of Defence Musiliu Obanikoro’s wife following intelligence reports received from the Department of State Service (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). She was arrested over the current investigation on her husband, who is wanted for questioning over the N4.745billion funds from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) which was reportedly traced to Obanikoro and some other persons.

However, Mrs. Obanikoro, was released on bail after she was transferred to the EFCC by DSS. Her international passport was confiscated . She was requested to return on Monday for interrogation.

According to the Nation, Mrs. Obanikoro was arrested by DSS after the authorities got wind that she had arrived in the country last weekend from the United States. A source said to Nation:

 “We got a report that Mrs. Obanikoro had sneaked into the country from the United States. After the confirmation of her travel log, an alert was issued to all security agencies.

“Following intelligence sharing with the EFCC, the operatives of the DSS arrested her in Lagos with some documents relating to the probe of the N4.745billion slush funds from ONSA. Another source spoke of excitement about Mrs. Obanikoro’s arrest because “some of the funds under investigation were wired into her company, which is called MOB.

“She needs to explain to this commission what job she did to deserve such remittance into her account”.

 Responding to a question, the source added:

“Mrs. Obanikoro had sued the EFCC for the enforcement of fundamental human rights for allegedly harassing her tenants and in-laws during the course of investigating her husband.”

The N4.745billion cash was sourced from the SAS Imprest Account of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under ex-NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) prior to the conduct of Ekiti State governorship poll on June 21, 2014.

Aftermath of the truck terror attack that left 80 people dead in France (Graphic photos)

Fireworks were filling the night sky as the crowds enjoyed July 14th, which is French National Holiday when gunshots rang out in the air and a gun man mowed down several people. The total number of the dead is now 80, with 18 people in intensive care units and several hundreds injured.

The identity documents belonging to a 31-year-old French Tunisian were later found in the bullet-riddled truck after the gunman was shot dead by police marksmen, while he was driving the truck and still tring to take more lives, security sources said.

The security source said: 'The identification of the truck driver is still underway.' The recovered papers indicate the man is a resident of Nice.

Arms procurement scandal: Pres. Buhari orders probe of Ihejirika, Minimah, 52 others

As the probe into the arms procurement in the Nigerian military continues, President Buhari has ordered the probe of two former Chiefs of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika and Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah. This was disclosed in a statement released by the President of the Presidential Committee on the Audit of Defence Equipment Procurement in the Armed Forces, AVM Jon Ode (Rtd) yesterday July 14th.‎

The army chiefs are among 54 new army personnel to be investigated. The panel is charged with the responsibility of investigating the ‎Defence Equipment Procurement from 2007 to 2015.

Gospel artist, Joel Benson of 6Team, kidnapped in Ogun, abductors demand N50m ransom

Gospel artist and cinematographer, Joel Benson of the Acapella gospel group, 6Team, was robbed and kidnapped at his home in Ibafo Mowe in Ogun state on Sunday July 10th. After robbing him in the presence of his wife and children, the gunmen took him with them.

The kidnappers later that day made him call his phone which was at his home and in uncontrollable tears, he informed his wife that his kidnappers were demanding a N50 million ransom before they can release him or they will kill him. Anyone with useful info is advised to go to the nearest police station

Photos show a girl kissing a man who looks like President Zuma, claims he is her 'Sugar daddy'

The South African Presidency say they will look into  pictures circulating on social media that shows a young woman kissing a man who appears to be President Jacob Zuma. The pictures were circulated on social media on Tuesday and Wednesday.

"We will check the matter," Presidency spokesperson Bongani Ngqulunga said.

A 19-year-old woman called Lindokuhle Dlamini posted a series of selfies of herself with the man who could be SA president on Tuesday. She captioned it: "He is not just a blesser, we are in love and I am grateful for all that he has done for me, much love. Xo xo."

A blesser, or sugar daddy, is an older man who gives a younger woman money or gifts in exchange for sex. The Facebook page where the selfies purporting to show the pair kissing was posted has been deleted. Some media outlets said they had been contacted by readers to say the woman is actually Zuma’s daughter. The Presidency indicated on Wednesday that it would investigate the claims before commenting

Suspected herdsmen kill three in Adamawa

                            

Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen stormed Thambo village in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State killing 3 persons and injuring 3 others yesterday July 13th. The suspected herdsmen who were said to be about 100 hundred in number began shooting when they entered the community. After the attack, they carted away about 100 cows.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Othman Abubakar, said cattle rustlers have been identified as the perpetrators of the attack. He said the police is on top of the situation and will soon arrest those behind the attack.

Meanwhile the remains of the 3 victims have been deposited at the state's Specialist Hospital.

NFF to receive N212million annually from FIFA

World football governing body, FIFA, has agreed to dole out some much needed cash the way of the Nigeria Football Federation to help with sports development in the country.

Under the aegis of the 'FIFA Forward Football Development program', FIFA has agreed to 'significantly increase their financial support for member associations and football development to 5million US dollars per 4year cycle for each member association from 1.6million dollars per cycle.

According to FIFA, the NFF and other associations will now receive $750,000 per year for football projects such as competitions, pitches, and women's football development.

Every association will also receive $500,000 per year for running costs in areas such as administration and governance.

 

Football confederations such as CAF, UEFA etc will now also receive $40m per four year cycle .

The implementation of this monetary programme will commence from June 1, 2017
