detention but still standing strong. The struggle continues. Thanks for
the prayers and support.
He also released a short statement, shortly after he was freed. Find it below...
"I give thanks to God that I am free after 67 days in detention. I thank
my wife, lawyers, children and friends for all their support. This was
the worst experience of my life but God was with me all the way.
"I suffered immeasurably but I count it all as joy. I am innocent of all
charges and I look forward to defending myself vigorously in court.
"These charges are politically motivated and I have been severely
punished for my political views and criticisms of the government. They
are trying to silence me, break me, discredit me and destroy, but as
long as Jesus is on the throne this will never work. I am strong and I
am bold and the struggle will continue."

EFCC interrogates Okupe over N162m fraud, grants him bail on health grounds
Erstwhile Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan
on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, has been questioned by the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged fraud to the tune of
N162m.
The commission questioned the former spokesman over alleged N162million illicit payments to him and his companies by a former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), and Chanchaga Local Government in Niger State.
Okupe who was not detained, was given the privilege to be reporting at the commission's office at regular interval.
Okupe who was first invited to by the commission for interrogation on June 22, 2016, again appeared this week for further questioning, Nation reports.
Quoting a source, the report said, "He has been coming to the EFCC over fresh allegations bordering on illicit payments received from the Office of the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, as well as strange payments to his companies by a council in Niger State.
"He was quizzed over N50million which he collected in cash from the former NSA without record or accountability.
"We also got evidence that a company that is owned by him, Romic Soil Fix International Limited, received N63million from Chanchaga Local Government of Niger State and another N13.5m from the same council, for reasons that are not stated.
"Another company that is linked to Okupe, Abraham Telecoms Limited, allegedly received N35.5million from the NSA through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
"The payments from the Chanchaga Local Government to Romic were made on November 21, 2014 during the PDP primary election and February 13, 2015, just before the general election.
"He has not been able to explain the receipts and has been asked to be reporting at intervals.
"The reason he is not detained is because he claimed to have a heart condition and presented a medical report to back the claim".

Saintfiet pulls out of race to become new Super Eagles coach, resumes with Bangladesh
Tom Saintfiet has ruled himself out of the running to become the new
Super Eagles boss and has taken over as coach of Bangladesh.
The Belgian made a final three-man shortlist for the Nigeria job, alongside Salisu Yusuf and Paul Le Guen.
"I saw exactly what you saw," Saintfiet told the Dhaka Tribune when he was asked about his situation with Nigeria.
"As a coach, I was without a job for the last two months. I sent my CV to different federations all over the world and Nigeria were one of them. On Friday, I saw I was in the shortlist but I don't have proper information about it (regarding interview with NFA).
"The first focus is on two (AFC Asian Cup qualifying playoff) matches against Bhutan in September and October. When the matches are finished, hopefully with the qualification, we will work together in future. First focus is on three months and to try to get good results."
Saintfiet has already begun work and compiled a 32-man preliminary squad for the upcoming games against Bhutan. After his vacation, he will watch several league matches and decide on some players.
"I only picked 12 players and the rest were added by my assistant coach [Saiful Bari] Titu. In the coming weeks, there will be league matches. Based on that, new players may be added," he concluded.

Sex scandal: US Ambassador did not follow proper channel in accusing lawmakers - Reps
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned the
Managing Director of Almond Properties Ltd., Olugbenga Obadina, at the
Federal High Court, Abuja, on an eight-count charge bordering on money
laundering.
The EFCC arraigned Obadina yesterday for receiving over N2.4 billion from a former National Security Adviser, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki, for electricity contracts that were never executed.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to all eight counts. The prosecuting counsel, Mr Peters Aso, however urged the court to remand the defendant in prison custody and order accelerated hearing of the case.
Aso said that even though bail was at the discretion of the court, the proof of evidence accompanying the charges against Obadina, showed that he was not entitled to bail.
"The defendant received N2.4 billion out of which $2.6 million has been taken abroad and his passport is still in his custody. And so, if granted bail, he is a flight risk because he will jet off to enjoy that money already abroad"

Military plans Operation Accord to tackle herdsmen attacks
Following the cries of Nigerians for an arrest of the increasing
attacks by the suspected Fulani herdsmen against host communities in
parts of the country, the nation's military has announced plans to
launch Operation Accord that would tackle the menace.
This was disclosed yesterday by the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Gabriel Olonisakin, while receiving the acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris at the Defence Headquarters, DHQ in Abuja.
According to Olonisakin, "the armed force is preparing to launch 'Operation Accord' to tackle the menace occasioned by armed bandits in the recent spate of farmers and cattle herders' clashes across the country."
Disclosing that a committee set up by the DHQ had visited some flash points of recent clashes in the country to assess the situation, he stressed that troops were being trained with the competence to operate in all terrains, especially in tackling the state of insecurity created by the herdsmen.
The CDS went on to state that the Nigerian military and police must collaborate in order to restore, maintain and sustain security in the country.
Speaking earlier, Idris pointed out that the military and the police must collaborate more to stay ahead of security challenges in the country. He proposed a joint operations command to coordinate all security operations in the states.
He, however, solicited assistance from the military in the training of the Nigeria police marine unit to enhance security operations in the Niger Delta region.
The IGP revealed that the police had taken over the responsibility of providing security in nine Local Government Areas in the North Eastern part of the country.
"The police have been briefed to take over 19 local government areas but only nine has been taken over," he stated.
